A Quick Everyday Makeup Routine
I got a few requests to share my everyday makeup routine a couple of months back when I asked what you wanted to see on the blog this fall. It’s a simple routine and one that I do pretty much every weekday. I try to stay makeup-free as much as possible on the weekends but for the most part, this is my tried and true routine. My everyday makeup routine is a mixture of both drugstore products and a few higher end products that I’ve grown to love. I am always testing out new makeup finds but right now, this is my favorite for an everyday look. All of the product information is linked below so you can recreate the same look or take bits and pieces to add to your existing makeup routine.
10 Minute Everyday Makeup Routine
Step 1: Skin Prep and Prime
I typically try not to wash my face with soap in the morning. Whether I’ve showered the night before or morning of, I just splash water over my face, pat dry and then apply moisturizer and eye cream. Cetaphil has been my favorite moisturizer for years and it never let’s me down. On the other hand, I am still on the hunt for the perfect eye cream. I am currently using this one and am content but still searching for, “the one”.
After my skin is moisturized, I prime my face with Smashbox Photo Finish face primer. It’s been around forever and is the holy grail of face primers in my humble opinion. Next are my eyelids. Right now, I’m using the Too Faced Shadow Insurance and have been pretty happy with the results. I have VERY oily lids so anything that can help prevent that and keep my eye makeup in check is gold in my book.
Step 2: Foundation and Concealer
I blogged about this foundation back in March and it’s still my favorite to date. The Fenty Matte Foundation feels light on your skin but gives maximum coverage and the price point is perfect. Not to mention, it’s now October and I’m still using the same bottle as I was in March!
Now I know I am supposed to apply my eye makeup and then add concealer but I just don’t for this everyday routine. I’m usually in a rush and heading out the door so I tend to group my foundation and concealer together and then apply the rest. I have VERY dark circles under my eye and have for as long as I can remember. They have only gotten worse since motherhood so I am constantly looking for a full coverage concealer that stays on all day without looking too cakey. I am currently using this Makeup For Ever Concealer and it’s been working really well. I just dot a little under my eyes and then blend with a beauty blender. I never see any creases throughout the day which is something I’ve struggled with in the past.
Step 3: Eyes and Lashes
This is probably the one step that I never change in my everyday makeup. I first line my waterline with a neutral eye pencil. I learned this trick a couple of years ago and it really works to brighten your eyes and helps to reduce the dark circles. Then I take the darkest shadow from the Urban Decay Naked Palette and line the lower lid. Next, I use a shimmer brown from the Maybelline Blushed Nude Palette on the upper lids.
Then I line my upper lids with the L’Oreal liquid brush liner. This has been my tried and true for YEARS! I love it because you don’t have to tug on your eyelid to apply and you can adjust the intensity of the line as much as you like. For my everyday makeup routine, I choose to line my lids with a super fine stroke as opposed to the weekends when I line them much thicker.
Lastly, I apply the darkest black coat of mascara possible. I am currently using the NYX Doll Eye and love it. It has such great coverage, is waterproof but washes off easily.
Step 4: Contour, Bronzer, Blush and Highlighter
I know this seems like a lot of steps in one but it goes very quickly. First, I contour my cheeks and nose with this palette for IT Cosmetics. It’s the first contour kit I ever bought and gives you the best tutorial if you’re new to contouring. I absolutely love it and think it makes a huge difference in my everyday routine.
Step 5: Setting Spray and Lips
I don’t know if it’s just me or not but my makeup tends to fade or run during the day. It wasn’t until I learned about a makeup setting spray when that all changed. This spray from Urban Decay works like charm. I just spritz on my face when my makeup is complete and I am good from morning until night, literally. It’s gold!
As for my lips, I typically just throw on my end-all-be-all chap stick but if I have a meeting or need a little something extra then I reach for this nude gloss. It’s so subtle but adds a nice finishing touch on my everyday makeup look.
So that’s it, my 10 Minute Everyday Makeup Routine. I hope you found it helpful and if you have any other tips and tricks for a quick makeup routine, I would love to know in the comments below!
