Making the Most of Those Precious 48-Hours We Work So Hard For
It's Friday at 3pm, you've completely checked out at work and all you can think about is how glorious the next 48 hours will be. You have an amazing weekend planned. Your closest friend's wedding, a day spent at the beach or quiet weekend in the comfort of your own home. Whatever your plans are, here are a few ways to help you make the most of it. You deserve it.
1. Plan for Monday before Sunday
This is a big one. I try to get all the meal planning and errands like the post office, Target runs and grocery shopping done before the weekend hits. Add all of these up and they can eat up hours of your weekend that could be spent doing something you love. It takes some time and effort to plan for the week ahead prior to the weekend but, for us, it’s key to enjoying a stress-free weekend especially when those, “Sunday Scaries” start to creep in.
2. Early Riser
This one is pretty basic yet so important to making the most of the weekend. Before kids, I would sleep well past 10 o’clock. But now I cherish the mornings. There are literally hours of weekend waiting for you in morning-time.
This one really doesn’t need an explanation, does it? It’s so hard though. We want to document everything we do. I am so guilty of this especially with the kids. I am making a conscious effort to put down my phone and just store memorable weekend moments in my mind and remember that it did happen even though it wasn’t documented on Instagram or Facebook.
4. Find Some Time for Yourself
A little "me time" on the weekend is key to enjoying it to the fullest but it doesn’t have to be a big ordeal or cost a lot of money. Perhaps heading to a coffee shop for an hour or going for a long run. Taking a little time for yourself can make such a difference to enjoying the weekend. Something simple, yet so needed.
5. End on a Positive
Sunday is probably my favorite day of the entire week but I too, struggle with the "Sunday Scaries" and dread the end of those precious 48 hours. Lately, I have been trying to change my mindset. Each Sunday, I reflect on the week that just past and what has brought me happiness. I then think about the week ahead, the things I am looking forward to and the goals that I want to accomplish. Making this change in mindset has made a huge difference. I no longer dread Sunday evenings but rather reflect on the week that just past and look forward to the week ahead.
